CITY OF GRAPEVINE
The Library Board of the Grapevine Public Library of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in Regular
Session on the 18th day of January, 2016 at 6:30PM in the Board Room, Grapevine Public
Library, 1201 Municipal Way, with the following members present to -wit:

constituting a quorum, with the following members of the City Staff:
Janis Roberson
Library Director
Duff O'Dell, the City Council Liaison, was also in attendance. Janee Trasler, Member, was
absent.
CALL TO ORDER
Janice Cook called the meeting to order at 6:30PM.

Motion by Lynda Brown, seconded by Fred Sheffler, to approve the July 20, 2015 meeting
minutes as written:
Ayes: Unanimous
Nays: None
Update on Expansion
Janis Roberson informed the board members that a $490,000 contract had been approved
on December 15, 2015 and is now under legal review. The contract has not been signed.
Janis is hopeful that ground will be broken within the First Quarter of 2016. There was no
formal action taken.
Discussion on New Passive Programming
Janis shared a handout of a typical Weekly Children's Activity Schedule. A Library Aide has
been hired to open the Children's Room door and set up the activity materials in addition to book
displays along the pathway. Parents are appreciating these activities because they have no
mess to clean up at home. The children are enjoying these activities because they get to have
free play with the materials. Receiving great reviews! Circulation is up! There was no formal
action taken.
Discussion of Teen Room Furniture
O\Policy Manual\Board Guidelines for Minutes 2013
Janis showed the board members the approved color samples for carpeting and walls in the new
Teen Room. Bright green bungee cord chairs, turquoise shelving, mobile shelving, ameba -
shaped lighting, bright color rocking hassock seats, study tables, sofa area, stackable side
tables, occasional chairs, and a conical tower charger stand are all planned for the new Teen
Room. There was no formal action taken.
Discussion of Library Update to CitCouncil
Janis shared with the presentation she gave to the City Council on January 5, 2016. Her Power
Point presentation was well received by the council. A new library overview push card (instead
of a brochure) has been produced. Janis gave each board member one of the cards. There
was no formal action taken.
The next quarterly board meeting is scheduled for April 18, 2016 at 6:30PM.
ADJOURNMENT
Bruce Rider, seconded by Susan Peabody, motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:11 PM. The
motion prevailed by the following vote
