The Library Board of the Grapevine Public Library of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in Regular
Session on the 18th day of July, 2016 at 6:30PM in the Board Room, Grapevine Public Library,
1201 Municipal Way, with the following members present to -wit:

constituting a quorum, with the following members of the City Staff:
Janis Roberson
Library Director
Duff O'Dell, the City Council Liaison, and Fred Sheffler, Board member, were not in attendance.
CALL TO ORDER
Janice Cook called the meeting to order at 6:30PM.
Citizen Comments — None
Motion by Bruce Rider, seconded by Lynda Brown, to approve the April 18, 2016 meeting
minutes as written:
Ayes: Unanimous
Nays: None
Introduction of New Teen Librarian
Mrs. Kansas Terry, who started on April 30th as the new Teen Librarian, introduced herself to the
board members tonight. She is very pleased to be working with the teens at our library.
There was no formal action taken.
U date on Expansion of Teen Room and Genealo
Janis Roberson informed the board members that the steel ordered for the Teen Room is too
long (due to lack of as-builts of the old portion of the library involved) and thus there is a two
to three week delay as the problem is corrected. Furniture has been ordered. The grand
opening ceremony date will be delayed into the late autumn. There was no formal action
taken.
Discussion of Bud et for 2016-2017
Janis told the board that she submitted the 2016-2017 library budget with essentially the same
numbers as last year. She will give a presentation on this budget to the City Council on August
4th. There was no formal action taken.

Discussion of Summer Readina Club Reg istration
Janis informed the board that the enrollment numbers have increased again this year with use of
both online and paper registration. At this point today, there are 163 more participants
(breakdown = 40 more children, 63 more teens, and 60 more adults) than all of last year's
numbers. There are great prizes this year, too. Several different activities are occurring
simultaneously which is a change from last year. There was no formal action taken.
Discussion of "e -rate"
Janis informed the board members that an idea surfaced by someone in the City IT Office that
the library should consider applying for the federal government "e -rate" Wi-Fi program to free up
Wi-Fi availability at the convention center and the REC. (Presently these three entities share the
same Wi-FI and split the bandwidth in thirds.) This idea will be investigated to understand if
there is any value to participating in the a -rate program. There was no formal action taken.
The next quarterly board meeting is scheduled for October 17, 2016 at 6:30PM.
ADJOURNMENT
Bruce Rider, seconded by Debbie Venable, motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:01 PM. The
motion prevailed by the following vote
