Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form. In accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Committee is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments. NEW BUSINESS 3. Presentation of Resolutions to members serving during 2014 (from State of Texas). 4. Consider the minutes of the April 8, 2015 Animal Shelter Advisory Committee meeting and take any necessary action. 5. Discuss current issues of Animal Services and Shelter. 6. Discuss upcoming events. 7. Review of Shelter Statistics (impounds, adoptions, redemptions, euthanasia). 8. 2016 Budget Year updates/expectations. Dallas Rd., Grapevine, Texas 76051, with the following members present to -wit: Lt, Ronald Hudson Chair, Grapevine Police Department Joy Mayo Member, Grapevine Citizen Nancy Snyder Member, Grapevine Citizen Dr. Jason Steinle Member, Veterinarian Kristina Valentine Member, Grapevine Animal Services Loretta Widmann Member, Animal Welfare Representative constituting a quorum, with the following liaison present: Duff O'Dell, Grapevine City Council CALL TO ORDER Ronald Hudson called the meeting to order at 1:31 p.m. ITEM 1. OATH OF OFFICE Oath of Office given by Chief Salame of Grapevine Police Department to Kristina Valentine, Nancy Snyder, and Dr. Jason Steinle, returning members, and new member, Loretta Widmann. ITEM 2. CITIZEN COMMENTS No citizen comments. ITEM 3. PRESENTATION OF RESOLUTIONS Ronald Hudson, Joy Mayo, Duff O'Dell, Nancy Snyder, Dr. Jason Steinle, and Kristina Valentine were given recognition issued from the State Representative, Giovanni Capriglione, for serving the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee. No action was taken by the Committee. ITEM 4. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES The Committee was provided a copy of the April 8, 2015 meeting minutes. Nancy Snyder made a motion to approve the minutes, and Joy Mayo seconded. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes: Hudson, Mayo, Snyder, Steinle, Valentine, Widmann Nays: None The committee discussed the following items: • Panleukopenia outbreak in the cat room in July. Euthanasia of cats/kittens who were sickened as a result. • Things to consider for the future: how to draw people to shelter, signage to the shelter, advertising adoption events, volunteer opportunities. 08/19/2015 ® A sole food source has considered and will be expected to start in the new budget year for cat and dog food. • Facebook count of "likes" is 2,380 • Clear the Shelters Adoption Event held on August 15 resulted in 18 of 20 animals adopted in one day and the remaining two adopted the next business day. No action was taken by the Committee. ITEM 6. DISCUSS UPCOMING EVENTS The following events are planned: • Vaccine Clinics at Grapevine Animal Services 9/19, 11/14 • Adoption Event at St. Francis Church in Grapevine 10/3 • Grapevine Police Department Open House October • Recycle/Adoption Event at Grapevine Animal Services 11/14 • Clear the Shelters 2016 7116 No action was taken by the Committee. ITEM 8.2016 BUDGET EXPECTATIONS The following items were expected to be approved in the new budget year. • Acoustic baffles for dog room ® Fencing replacement for outdoor runs • Full needs assessment of shelter and services No action was taken by the Committee, ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Committee, Ronald Hudson offered a motion to adjourn the meeting at 2:30 p.m. and Jason Steinle seconded. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes: Hudson, Mayo, Snyder, Steinle, Valentine, and Widmann Nays: None PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISO COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 2nd day of December 2015.
