HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 21 - Tahoes MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER \�� MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 7, 2017 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF TAHOES RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of a resolution for the purchase of Chevrolet Tahoes for the Police and Public Works Departments from Caldwell Country Chevrolet through an interlocal agreement with the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard). FUNDING SOURCE: Funding for this purchase is currently available in accounts 325-48910-209-01-170001-0, 325-48910-209-02-170001-0 and 325-48910-415-04-170001-0 (Motor Vehicles)for a total amount not to exceed $133,095.00. BACKGROUND: This purchase is for the replacement of units 92185, 94210 and 94102 in the Police Department and replacement of unit 15225 in the Public Works Department as approved in the FY 2017 Vehicle/Equipment Replacement Budget. These vehicles meet or exceed the specification and requirements of the departments. This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Caldwell Country Chevrolet. The Fleet Services Department and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. Staff recommends approval. PH/BS RESOLUTION NO. 2017-020 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR THE CITY MANAGER'S DESIGNEE TO PURCHASE CHEVROLET TAHOES THROUGH AN ESTABLISHED INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is a local government in the State of Texas and as such is empowered by the Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791 to enter into an interlocal agreement with other qualified agencies in the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) is a qualified purchasing cooperative program as authorized by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas has established an interlocal agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) and wishes to utilize established contracts meeting all State of Texas bidding requirements; and WHEREAS, The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) has an established contract no. 521-16, Vehicles, Heavy Duty Trucks, Police Motorcycles, Parts, and Service Labor, with Caldwell Country Chevrolet; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas has a need to purchase four replacement vehicles for the Police and Public Works departments; and WHEREAS, all constitutional and statutory prerequisites for the approval of this resolution have been met, including but not limited to the Open Meetings Act; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems the adoption of this resolution to be in the best interests of the health, safety, and welfare of the public. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all matters stated hereinabove are found to be true and correct and are incorporated herein by reference as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase of four Chevrolet Tahoes for the Fleet Services department from Caldwell Country Chevrolet through an interlocal agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) for an amount not to exceed $133,095.00. Section 3. That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to take all steps necessary to consummate the purchase of said Chevrolet Tahoes. Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 7th day of February, 2017.
