HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 16 - Water and Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL 2 (z, FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: MARCH 21 , 2017 SUBJECT: CHANGE ORDER #2 — WATER AND SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT PROJECT RECOMMENDATION City Council to consider approving Change Order #2 to the Water and Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project with Sabre Development Corp. in the amount of $36,997.50, authorizing staff to execute said change order, and take any necessary action. FUNDING: Funds are available in the 2011 Water Impact Fees and in the Water and Sanitary Sewer Released Impact Fees. These funds were already appropriated to the project as contingency in the original construction contract and Change Order #1 . BACKGROUND: The 2015 Water and Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project construction contract was awarded to Sabre Development Corp. on July 7, 2015 in the amount of $1 ,751,012.00. Change Order # 2 is a final clean-up change order and addressed items detailed below: Asphalt repair and curb and gutter replacement at Wildwood and Boyd $21 ,685.00 for repair to existing paving and curb and gutter that had to be removed in order to re-route and install new water lines, install valves and move a fire hydrant. This allows future isolation of water line sections for maintenance and repairs without large scale system shutdowns. Almost the entire intersection needed to be repaved. Repair of pavestone sidewalk due to ATMOS conflict along SH 360 $2,376.00 for repair and replacement of the pavestone sidewalk in front of Pavestone. A utility conflict with ATMOS in this area necessitated a larger than expected area of sidewalk be replaced. 12"PVC water line by open cut along Northwest Highway $9,648.00 to install 72 LF of 12" water line along Northwest Highway to replace old 12" pipe. This occurred in front of Popeye's and tied into the existing line fronting Taco Casa to complement utility work occurring at these development locations. Concrete sidewalk and HC ramp reconstruction along Dove Loop Road $3,250.00 to reconstruct 65 additional LF of sidewalk and 4 handicapped ramps due to additional removal required when installing the waterline at the intersections of Dooley Street, Cable Creek Drive, Michol Street, Corey Street and Peach Court. Miscellaneous contract item Quantity adjustments $38.50 in net changes from various other contract items. Staff recommends approval.
