SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST
FOR QUOTE TO PURCHASE THREE REPLACEMENT PUMPS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for quote to
purchase three replacement pumps from FCX Performance.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in account 200-43370-531-2 (W/W Treatment
Infrastructure Maintenance) in an amount not to exceed $21,881.60.
BACKGROUND:
The following purchase is for three pumps. One replacement for an existing return
activated sludge pump that is failing in Train 2 of our plant. This is a pump that is always
running and is crucial to keeping our biological process going in the treatment plant. The
other two pumps are to replace aging, waste-activated sludge pumps in train 2 and in
train 3 of our plant. These pumps are also a crucial piece of equipment. Without them
we cannot take the excess biological life out of the basins as needed.
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Three vendors submitted
quotations. FCX Performance submitted the lowest responsive and responsible quote
meeting specifications.

RRR Industrial Sales $26,601.99
Staff recommends approval.
