HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 11 - Medical Control Services MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER S.9- MEETING DATE: APRIL 4, 2017 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RENEWAL FOR A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT FOR MEDICAL CONTROL SERVICES RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of a renewal for a professional services contract for medical control services from BEST EMS. FUNDING SOURCE: Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 100-44530-210-1 (EMS Professional Fees) in the amount of$29,472.80. BACKGROUND: The Grapevine Fire Department requests a professional services contract with BEST EMS for Medical Control services, in part, due to the close affiliation between BEST EMS and Baylor Scott&White Medical Center at Grapevine. This affiliation will allow on-duty Baylor Scott & White emergency department physicians to provide 24 hours a day medical guidance to Grapevine Fire Department paramedics by phone and in person. Dr. Justin Northeim will be the principle contact with BEST EMS. Dr. Northeim is an Emergency Department physician at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center at Grapevine. BEST EMS currently provides Medical Control Services to six local fire departments including Carrollton, Euless, McKinney, Keller, Argyle, and Trophy Club. This contract is for one-year, with four optional renewals. If approved, this will be for the first renewal available. This procurement will be made in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, § 252.022. General Exemptions (a) (4), professional services. Staff recommends approval. JS/LW
