SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR PURCHASE OF SLIDE GATES AND FRAMES
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a purchase of slide gates and frames for the
Wastewater Treatment Plant from MVA Services, LLC.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in account 200-43370-534-0 (Wastewater
Treatment Infrastructure Maintenance) in an amount not to exceed $44,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
This purchase is to install the isolation gates at the influent of the Ultraviolet Light (UV)
System. The current frames and gates are inoperable and staff is unable to conduct full
maintenance on the UV System. Although the plant is well within its permissible limits for
E-coli this could become more challenging as time goes on. With the instillation of the
new gates, staff will be able to isolate individual channels of the system allowing for full
maintenance of the system and cleaning of the channels to stay within permissible limits.
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Three vendors submitted
quotations. The lowest quote, from LKG Resources, did not include stainless steel gates
and frames which were a requirement. MVA Services LLC submitted the lowest
responsive and responsible quote meeting specifications.
LKG Resources, LLC $34,470.00 (did not meet bid specifications)
MVA Services LLC $44,000.00
Newman Regency Group $52,750.00
Staff recommends approval.
