CALL TO ORDER Chairman Curtis Ratliff called the meeting to order at 5 p.m. II. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were NO citizen comments. Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Historic Preservation Commission under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form. In accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Commission is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments. 1 19 August 2015 August 19, 2015 III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Balla Wright made the motion to accept the minutes as written from the July 15, 2015 meeting; Sue Franks seconded the motion, which prevailed in the following vote: Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Stinson, Franks, Jensen, Perkins and Vaughn) Nays: None Absent: (Bannister) IV. OLD BUSINESS Janet Perkins reported the Foundation currently has 184 active memberships, they received five renewals of membership, donations from brick sales and from Judy Daniel for the month. Vice Chairman Melva Stanfield reported the Nash Farm activity for the month of seven school groups totaling 208 attending and 12 interpretive programs with a total 312 attendees. Jim Lauderdale updated the group on their request for a team of oxen for the Farm. He recommended trying a team of oxen for a trial period of six months and to be reviewed again at 12 months. He had located a couple of three year old teams south of Denver, Colorado at 3 Eagles Ranch; he and Chairman Ratliff will visit to observe the teams on August 27, 2015. City Council Liaison Mike Lease asked what the Farm would need to work the teams; Jim said they will need ox yokes and bows, these will need to be maintained appropriate to their growth, and they have the chains, plows and wagon in the barn now. NEW BUSINESS Foundation Treasurer Balla Wright asked the board as members to each contribute $100 as a sponsorship for the Fall Round-Up! event. Janet Perkins reported the Foundation's upcoming calendar was being finalized; the calendars would be distributed to active members and the balance sold in the Visitors Information Center of the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau. Frances Jensen reported seven homes have agreed to be shown on the Candlelight Tour of Homes 2095; she will confirm with the Grapevine Historical Society to join as part of the tour. VI. LIAISON REPORTS P.W. McCallum reported City Council had approved, at the previous night's meeting, to construct shuttle shelters at the stops along Historic Main Street. He noted the shuttles were a success and "found money" for their fares collected and the traffic they bring to Historic Main Street. The shuttles bring groups on layovers from the airport to 2 19 August 2015 August 19, 2015 downtown Grapevine; special layover packages for domestic and international flight are available. VI. ADJOURNMENT Balla Wright, seconded by Melva Stanfield, made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:15 p.m. The motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Stinson, Franks, Jensen, Perkins and Vaughn) Nays: None Absent: (Bannister) PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE GRAPEVINE HERITAGE FOUNDATION, THE AUGUST 19, 2015 MINUTES, ON THIS THE 21 ST DAY OF OCTOBER, 2015.
