1. Call to Order
The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met at 3:40 pm on August 4, 2015 at
The REC of Grapevine.
The following members were present:
Tena Burrell, Co-Chairperson
Trent Kelley, Recreation Facilities Manager
Eileen Hinson, Active Adult Supervisor
Debra Wells, Housing Authority
Paul Ernst
Kay Blanding
Charles Burns
Pam Price
Maryann Waddell, GRACE
Those not present:
Dick Guckel, Chairperson
Dr. Alexander Graham
Duff O'Dell, City Council Member Liaison

3. Consideration of minutes for June 2, 2015 meeting
Approved
4. Citizen Requests
Kay Blanding: Walking from parking lot concerns and also will there be any
additional handicap spots?
Trent-No more additional handicap parking,but looking to add 55 and
better parking spots for certain days and hours.
5. New Business
a. Paul
-AARP driver safety course was held in July at The REC and will have a
September class as well.

b. Grapevine Housing Authority- Debra Wells
-Will be electing officers in August meeting.
- 82 vouchers leased up.
-19 portability clients.
-Public Housing: 97 leased, 1 vacant,but will be leased at end of week.
-Starting to spend 2015 funds.
-Putting fans in units.
-Replacing showers in units.
-Most units have new flooring waiting on a few tenants.
-Beautification for all properties.
-Replaced some ranges and refrigerators in units that needed them.
-Received a Capital Fund and will use for hot water heaters.
c. Maryann Waddell-GRACE
-Friends and Family program:
-Total clients: June-119/July-120
-Total commodities delivered: June-93 /July-96
-Volunteer hours: June-90.5 /July-still totaling
-Total Matches: June-22 /July-21
-New Clients: June-0/July-1
-New Commodities Clients: June-0/July-1
-New Matches (senior with volunteer): June-2/July-1
-New Volunteers: June-0/July-0
-Home visits to homebound clients to update files for 2015.
-Delivered groceries to homebound seniors and disabled as needed.
-Helping seniors and disabled with financials and clothing as needed.
-GRACE volunteers deliver commodities monthly to those who sign up
for this program.
d. Trent Kelley-REC
-Three weeks left of summer camps and the rooms will reopen for Active
Adult use.
-Was a question about memberships and the numbers; the old building had
about 600 senior passes now it is up to 1000 plus seniors passes.
-Employee Health Fair will be held at The REC on Aug 7 from 10-1.
-Working on lake cleanup efforts, using kayaks to help with trash pickup.
-MLB RBI will be held at Oak Grove Park August 11-14.
-In the September water bill, there will be information about the REC and
FOGSAC.
e. Eileen Hinson—Active Adults
-Increase in class, lunch and trip numbers.
-Computer registration was yesterday from 8-3 with new classes added.
-Trips have been maxing out; Ripley's and Medieval Times.

-Northeast Senior Jamboree is Friday, September 25 at Camp Carter in Fort
Worth.
-Empowering Seniors Expo Friday, October 2 from 9-2.
-SeniorMovers rack card has been updated and passed around. Looking for
more volunteer drivers.
