Adjournment The next meeting of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation will be held on February 17, 2016 at 5 p.m. in the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, 2nd Floor Boardroom, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas. David Klempin Manager, Heritage Programs & Preservation January 20, 2016 STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF TARRANT CITY OF GRAPEVINE The Grapevine Heritage Foundation Board of Directors met at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, 2nd Floor Boardroom, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Curtis Ratliff called the meeting to order at 5 p.m. IL CITIZEN COMMENTS There were NO citizen comments. Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Historic Preservation Commission under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form. In accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Commission is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments_ 1 20 January 2016 January 20, 2016 III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Melva Stanfield made the motion to accept the minutes as written from the October 21, 2015 meeting; Balla Wright seconded the motion, which prevailed in the following vote: Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Franks, Jensen, Perkins and Vaughn) Nays: None Absent: (Stinson) IV. OLD BUSINESS Janet Perkins reported the Foundation currently has 182 active memberships, with two renewals billed in January. The Foundation received donations of $800 in November and $3,320 in December. Vice Chairman Melva Stanfield reported the Nash Farm activities for the month of December with 710 visitors, 350 of those for the Victorian Christmas program The December volunteer hours totaled 131 hours, 20 hours of maintenance and 10 hours of livestock care. Revenue year to date was $13,381 with 3,782 visitors to Nash Farm year to date. David Klempin gave the update on the search for the Nash Farm manager as now having 25 applications narrowed down to the five top candidates. Chairman Ratliff thanked all who worked the Butchering & Curing program, he noted the great temperature and the good registration; and commented on how well the "tab" acquired for scraping the hog worked. He asked the board for help with the upcoming First Friday "Foodways" program. NEW BUSINESS Balla Wright addressed 2016 sponsorships for Nash Farm, questioning a year-long sponsorship option be offered on the membership form. P.W. McCallum agreed saying to include a sponsorship letter and every vehicle you can use; he suggested recognition of sponsors with signage on the pens, chicken coop such as their company "Supports Spring Into Nash". Sue Franks asked about the progress for speakers to market the Foundation to community groups. Chairman Ratliff asked Sue to head up this team and she agreed to, noting the Foundation keeps heritage and property values up. VI. LIAISON REPORTS The Grapevine Heritage Foundation's liaisons updated the group on other Grapevine boards. Melva Stanfield deferred her update to P.W. McCallum. P.W. reported on the success of the 2015 Christmas Capital of Texas with increases in attendance in a 50 mile radius, and more out of town guests from the 250 mile radius increasing more hotel nights, retail sales and restaurant business with all hotel numbers up. Lego and SeaLife 2 20 January 2016 January 20, 2016 reported a six percent increase and Bass Pro reported no growth in attendance but spending was up. Steve Brown (Esparza's) reported the strongest December ever and sales also reported up at Big Fish, A.J.'s on Main, Tolbert's, Willhoite's and Main Street Bakery; for the first time, restaurants sold out of food. The Carol of Lights had a record crowd. He also reported sell-outs were across the board with the Palace movies, 95 Grapevine Vintage Railroad excursions all sold out with the North Pole Express and 25,000 —41,000 bought tickets for the Gaylord's ICE as well as Lego Land, SeaLife and Bass Pro Santa. P.W. said at the previous night's City Council meeting, the Council voted 7 — 0 to approve Gaylord's $120 million expansion. Chairman Ratliff reported on Historic Preservation Commission's review of Kosse Maykus' plan to build seven 2,400 square feet garden homes on East Wall Street. Don Vaughn noted the Nash Farmhouse and grounds Christmas decorations worked well at the Farm. VL ADJOURNMENT Janet Perkins, seconded by Sue Franks made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 6A0 p.m. The motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Franks, Jensen, Perkins and Vaughn) Nays: None Absent: (Stinson) PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE GRAPEVINE HERITAGE FOUNDATION, THE JANUARY 20, 2016 MINUTES, ON THIS THE 16TH DAY OF MARCH 2016.
