Call to Order The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met at 3:30 PM on August 5, 2014 at the Grapevine Senior Activities Center. The following members were present: Tena Burrell, Co-Chairperson Paul Ernst Pam Price Trent Kelley, SAC/CAC Supervisor Kay Blanding Charles Burns Maryann Waddell, GRACE Eileen Hinson, SAC Assistant Supervisor Those not present: Dick Guckel, Chairperson Carey Miller Dr. Alexander Graham Joetta King, Housing Authority 2. Consideration of minutes for June 3,2014 meeting Approved 3. Citizen Requests Charles Bums -Would it be possible to add more handicapped parking spots at the SAC? Kay Blanding—Culture Club trip to see Cirque du Soleil was excellent. She has noticed that the SAC has wide variety of ethnic diversification. 4. New Business a. Maryann Waddell-GRACE -In June, 114 seniors were served in the Friends &Family program. 75 volunteer hours recorded. Two new matches were made. -In June,we served 97 for Commodities Day(distribution of groceries to our clients). -Cosponsored a successful picnic with Gateway Church VII on June 7. -We delivered furniture, food vouchers, clothing to clients. 1 -In July we served 115 in our Friends &Family program. -We served 99 on Commodities Day. -A used wheelchair was donated from a GRACE client to another GRACE client and with financial help from Batteries Plus,the client and GRACE, a new battery was installed to make it work properly. A real success story. -Five new volunteers were added to help with transportation needs and commodities. -Food, clothing,walkers and canes delivered to clients. b. Trent Kelley -Update given on the CAC renovation. Work is on schedule. -Update given on PARD reorganization. Kevin Mitchell is the Director and Chris Smith is the Deputy Director. c. Eileen Hinson -Hearing screenings scheduled on August 12. -Trip planned to Holocaust Museum on August 15. -Senior Citizen Services now offers financial counseling to identify resources for those facing financial difficulties. -Shingles workshop scheduled August 26 with possible shingles shot clinic to follow if there is enough interest expressed. -Jamboree 2014 scheduled for Friday, September 26 with North Richland Hills Senior Center hosting. -We will provide transportation on Thursdays (free admittance for seniors) to State Fair this year. 6.
