SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF A REPLACEMENT PUMP
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the purchase of a replacement pump for the
Wastewater Treatment Plant from Pump Solutions, Inc.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in account 200-43370-531-1 (WAN Treatment
Infrastructure Maintenance) for an amount not to exceed $16,550.00.
BACKGROUND:
The purchase of the Barnes pump from Pump Solutions, Inc. is needed for Minters Chapel
Lift Station. The pumps currently in place are aging and are in need of replacement due
to the critical necessity of the station's proper function. The desired pump meets the
specifications required for proper draw down of incoming raw water and will assist in the
prevention of sanitary sewer overflows. There are two pump quotes provided from Pump
Solutions, Inc. in which we are going with the Barnes pump over KSB due to the Barnes
Pump fitting the desired pump curve.
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Two vendors submitted
quotations. Pump Solutions, Inc. submitted the lowest responsive and responsible quote
meeting specifications.
