1. Call to Order
The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met at 3:35 PM on December 4, 2012
at the Grapevine Senior Activities Center.
The following members were present:

Amber Shattuck (GRACE) is now the Senior Program Director who started in
October.
3. Consideration of minutes for October 2, 2012 meeting

5. New Business
a. Roy Stewart
-Thursday December 6 is the Parade of Lights on Main Street and starts at
7pm.

-Working on plans for the CAC/SAC expansion.
-The lake is down about 7 feet.
b. Joetta King—Housing Authority
-The board evaluated policy regarding maintenance of units and it was
determined that the GHA is preparing units well for new tenants. A
spreadsheet was provided that showed the cost to get a unit ready for
move in. The GHA usually spends $700 to $3,600 depending on whether
the unit has been through a make ready in the past couple of years. Every
effort is made to provide a clean, sanitary and affordable place to live.
-There are three units and the office that have foundation problems and
repair proposals are being submitted.
- Will be a Christmas party for residence at the Bessie Mitchell House
with entertainment.
c. Francis Arrigan and Amber Shattuck—GRACE
-Amber started in October and is over the Senior Program; she has already
recruited 17 volunteers. There are 8 active matches with 15 more at the
end of the month.
-Vicki Yarnell is over at intake and still helping GRACE out.
During October and November, 138 seniors have received 879 services
from GRACE which include 174 food baskets delivered via Commodities,
phone calls, friendly visits, interviews, utility and rent assistance.
Other programs:
-During October and November, Programs served a total of 895 families,
reaching out a population of 2669 individuals. 18,635 services were
offered thought the different programs such as Client Services, TH,
pantry, clothing, senior, Seasonal, Compass and clinic.
-So far more than 1842 individuals have signed up for the Christmas
Cottage, with a total of 494 households. Will go from December 7-20 as
there will be a family every 30 minutes. The families have appointed times
and GRACE has a budget for each family and their members.
-During the Thanksgiving food distribution 512 families were given
baskets with turkeys impacting 1903 individuals including 129 seniors.
-Last year in 2011 there were about 450 turkeys donated.
-Thanksgiving and Christmas this year will have over 1000 turkeys
donated.
Invitation: Open House for the Christmas Cottage on Monday, Dec. 10 at
6:30 pm. 2845 Exchange Blvd. Suite 300 in Southlake.
d. Trent Kelley- SAC
-Christmas Party was on Monday December 3, we had 144 reservations
and 136 show up. FOGSAC donated a$10 Wal-Mart gift card for
everyone at the event. There were also door prizes, dancing and a great
meal.

-The CAC/SAC expansion is under way, as they are in architectural
contract talks and will present them at next city council meeting.
-Taking a trip to the Arboretum December 11, Prestonwood"The Gift of
Christmas"on Thursday Dec 13, Gaylord walking Friday Dec 14 and
Christmas light Tour on Dec 18. Having a Noon Year's Eve Party on Dec
31.
-The SAC will be closed December 24 and 25 and January 1.
-Computer registration will be Monday January 7.
e. Pam Price
-Computer Registration Monday January 7 from 9am until 12. Classes will
start Monday January 14. The people taking classes need to have their
own transportation. Grapevine residents do have priority for the different
classes depending on the class number.
f. Paul Ernst
-AARP Tax Aide starts after the first of February on every Wednesday at
the SAC.
-Driver Safety classes in November had over 100 students at 3 different
locations including Grapevine.
