SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF RFQ FOR ARCHITECTURAL
DESIGN SERVICES FOR FIRE STATIONS 1 & 4 REMODEL
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the award of the Request for Qualifications for
Architectural Design Services for Fire Stations 1 & 4 remodel to Brown Reynolds Watford
Architects.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in accounts 177-48840-210-003-170002-02 and
177-48840-210-003-170003-02 (Buildings) in an amount not to exceed $472,550.00.
BACKGROUND:
Four firms submitted qualifications:
Architect Design Group
Brown Reynolds Watford Architects
Komatsu
RPGA Design Group
Interviews were conducted and the selection committee (comprised of Public Works
Engineering and Facilities staff, as well as Fire Administration and Operations staff)
narrowed the choices to Komatsu and Brown Reynolds Watford Architects. The committee
visited fire station designs and remodels in the surrounding area that were designed by
both firms. Each firm was graded by the committee and Brown Reynolds Watford was
chosen based upon the grading matrix.
Request for Qualifications was solicited in accordance with Texas Government Code
Chapter 2254.004. The RFQ was issued December 19, 2016 and closed on January 20,
2017.
Staff recommends approval.
