SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST
FOR QUOTE TO PURCHASE FIREFIGHTER ESCAPE SYSTEM
KITS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for quote to
purchase firefighter escape system kits for the Fire Department from All Hands Fire
Equipment.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in account 100-42281-210-3 (Apparatus and
Tools) for an amount not to exceed $23,750.00.
BACKGROUND:
This purchase is to replace end of life firefighter escape systems that are provided to
each firefighter. This allows firefighters searching/working above the fire to have an
escape route should the normal means of egress become blocked or impassable. The
new systems will fit in the bunker gear pockets and work with rescue harnesses that are
built into the pants.
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Three vendors submitted
quotations. All Hands Fire Equipment submitted the lowest responsive and responsible
quote meeting specifications.
All Hands Fire Equipment 23,750.00
Municipal Emergency Services $26,050.00
Dooley Tackaberry 29,000.00
Staff recommends approval.
