SENT R ACTIVITiTN ER DIRECTOR H:\GRAPEVINE SENIOR ADVISORY BOARD.docagenda.doc02/22/01 (hw GRAPEVINE SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD March 2, 2001 The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met on March 2, 2001 at 2 P.M. at the Grapevine Senior Activities Center. The following were present: Dr. Edith Pewitt—Chair Irvin Bowling Lloyd Latta - Vice Chair Harlan Jewett Miriam Bahner - Secretary Tricia Wood Edith welcomed those present to the meeting. The minutes of the previous meeting were considered and approved. Harlan said that he had talked to the city about the traffic left turn signals. They said that they must do a traffic survey before anything can be done about putting up left turn signals. Jennifer will get the city traffic engineer to come to our meeting in May to talk about the various traffic problems including the truck traffic on Wall Street even though it is posted as being prohibited. Linda gave an update on the Senior Movers Program. They are interviewing people for coordinator now. They have some promising applicants. The forms to be used in the program are all ready. The rest of the meeting was a work session for Senior Fair Plans. After discussion the following plans and assignments were made: Linda Gregory—The Grapevine Senior Choir Miss Senior Mature Irving The Dancing Dames (senior tappers) Keller Kitchen Band Contact Peggy Riddle about the reservations Handle the refreshments Handle parking and transportation Edith Pewitt - Get the pianists, Bernice Hatcher and Mary Louise Spangler Get the flower arrangements from her garden. Contact Susan Pitman about high school seniors who are working in the historical aspects of Grapevine, to do interviews with some of the seniors. Clydene Johnson- Convention and Visitors Bureau Brookhollow Manor Atria Woodridge First Baptist Church for a quartet of seniors. (iv Jennifer Hibbs -Mailouts to seniors Publicity Signs and door prizes Miriam Bahner - Grace Historical Society Grapevine Baylor Hospital—Blood Pressure checks and Volunteer Program Meals on Wheels-Metroport and Fort Worth Palace Theater Tarantula Train Community Activity Center Be sure and find out whether they need power, and how many tables and chairs are needed. Handicapped parking will be available at the Senior Center and the bus will transport the people to the Palace.
