The following were present: Edith Pewitt - Chair Harlan Jewett Lloyd Latta -Vice Chair Dorothy Kritz Miriam Bahner— Secretary Trisha Wood Irvin Bowling Edith introduced Vanessa McCauley, Transportation Coordinator for the Senior Movers Program and Ramana Chinnakotla, Traffic Engineer for Grapevine. The minutes of the previous meeting were considered and approved. Ramana Chinnakotla addressed some of the concerns of board members concerning turning lanes and lights at Wall St. and Ball and also College and Ball. He said that improving these intersections is now under consideration. He also said that the following things are in the planning stage or are being implemented at this time: tir Improve signage with much larger print which he showed us a sample of a sign. Florescent signs for school areas that can be seen even at night. Stripping all streets uniformily. Looking at speed zones. Looking at the Wall Street bridge. In the planning stage of changing 121 and 114 funnel area. Looking at all intersections at the traffic flow. They are considering placing lights in the cross walks that will flash as long as someone is in the crosswalk enabling drivers to know there is someone there even if they failed to see the person in the dark. Harlan said that even though truck traffic on Wall Street is prohibited the trucks continue to travel it. Ramana said that he would talk to the police Sargent about it and report back to the board about this and the other traffic concerns. Vanessa McCauley gave a report on the Senior Movers Program. She said that a new brochure has been made and will be ready next week. The Fellowship Church wants to make the driver volunteer program a part of their women's ministry. The background checks of the drivers must be done and then they must go through a training program. She has been driving people to the doctors offices till the volunteer drivers are ready to roll. Edith went over all the entertainment and vendors for the Senior Fair making sure everything was ready. The Baptist quartet has cancelled and a few of the vendors who were invited can not attend. Everything else is all ready. It was reported that Linda Norwood is no longer Postmistress at Grapevine. Edith said that we should send a big thank you to the Mayor, City Manager, City Council and whoever was involved for what they accomplished in the airport dispute. Edith wants the Senior Center to purchase the flowers for the Senior Fair and she will pay for them, donating them in memory of Louise Harrison.
