The following members were present: Dr. Edith Pewitt - Chair Dorothy Kritz Lloyd Latta - Vice Chair Tricia Wood Irvin Bowling Linda Gregory The following visitors were present and introduced and welcomed by Dr. Edith Hewitt: Ramana Chinnakotla—Traffic Engineer, City Public Works Dept. Steve Gilbreath - City Public Works Dept. Stan Laster - City Public Works Dept. Debra Wells - Director of Hud Officer Graves - Grapevine Police Dept. Officer On - Grapevine Police Dept. The minutes of the previous meeting were considered and approved. CITIZEN REQUESTS: Linda Gregory read a letter she received from Bobbie Smith in which she stated that she has difficulty getting around on Main St. in Grapevine on her motorized scooter. The issue was discussed. The city says that they are in compliance with ADA requirements, which specify that the city must provide reasonable accomadations. They also said that changing the sidewalks on Main Street is very remote. OLD BUSINESS: Linda Gregory gave a report on the Senior Movers Program for Vanessa McCauley who could not be present. She said that there has been an increase in the number of volunteers but we still have not reached fifty, the original goal for the program Debra Wells gave a report on the Hud Housing. She said that they got the money from Hud and they are working on the electric, plumbing and water heaters in the apartments. She also said that they have opened the waiting list for new applicants but there is currently a nine month to two year waiting list. The city staff that was present discussed the traffic on Wall Street,the intersections of Wall and Ball, Wall and Dove and College and Ball. Also parking on College Street, Sidewalks on Texas Street and new signage for Grapevine Highway [Route 26] was discussed. C They are getting the bids for the widening of Church Street ready and they should be (16, through City Council by July 17 with work probably starting by the end of the year. There was a discussion about the truck traffic on Wall Street which is prohibited. The police officers present said that they would watch the traffic and speed on Wall Street and report back at the next meeting. Tricia Wood said that Grace got a really good volunteer from the Senior Fair held earlier this year. The next meeting will be held on August 3, 2001 at 2 P.M. at the Grapevine Senior Activities Center. The meeting was adjourned at 3 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Miriam A. Bahner Secretary
