The following members were present: Dr. Edith Pewitt —Chair Dorothy Kritz Irving Bowling - V. Chair Doris Waite Miriam Bahner - Secretary Trisha Wood Among the visitors present were: Officer Tim Gill with the Grapevine Police Dept. Tena Burrell Judy Bentley And Others Edith introduced and welcomed everyone to the meeting. The minutes were considered and approved. (tr, Officer Gill discussed crime in general and in Grapevine in particular. He said that it is very important to stay alert and report anything or anyone that is suspicious and the police will be glad to check it out. Doris discussed dogs littering the parks and people littering and loitering in the parks. Officer Gill said that he would mention it at headquarters and see to more signs being put up tocontrol the problem. Edith, Dorothy and Miriam will meet to decide what organizations to put on the list of names and phone numbers who could use volunteers as well as the organizations to provide literature about the organizations for people to take with them. Dr. Stephanie Whetsell delivered a twenty-five dollar gift certificate she had collected for a door prize. Lew Anderton, who is having the senior housing homes built at the corner of Glade and Grapevine Euless Rd. in Grapevine, known as Glade Crossing for retired people, told us about the homes. He said the land was donated by the owner along with a million dollars for construction. He also received a $500,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Board. The city wouldn't give any tax breaks. The one bedroom apartment contains 700 sq. feet. There are also two bedroom (110r apartments with two baths. There are 30 one bedroom and 20 two bedroom apartments. They are four- plex units and one story brick construction. They are handicapped (ir accessible. Each apartment has a separate utility meter and they are all electric. A person with a monthly income of$2150.00 would pay 30% or $570.00 maximum for rent of a two bedroom apartment. You must be 55 years of age and up to rent these apartments. This first phase contains 50 apartments but there will be additional phases. The next phase will cost more to rent than this first phase in order to make a profit. He is considering adding an assisted living building on ten acres of the property later on with an approximate cost of$1400.00 per month.
