GRAPEVINE SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD
February 7, 2003
The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met on February 7, 2003 at
the Grapevine Senior Activities Center.
The following members were present:
Dr. Edith Pewitt — Chair Miriam Bahner— Secretary
Dorothy Kritz - Vice Chair Pat Frosch

(w Edith introduced and welcomed everyone to the meeting.
The minutes of the previous meeting were considered and approved.
Edith was disappointed that the Silver Haired Legislature did not mention
any medical issues.
Charles Cole handed out a sheet about HB 86. He wants HB 86 to pass which
will freeze Homestead Taxes at their present rate. This bill will put it into the
hands of the state instead of into the hands of the cities which the other bill
being considered would do. He said it needs to be in the hands of the state.
He also had petitions that need 15,000 names each to freeze all ad valoram
taxes levied.
He said that there is a lack of needed information as to where to call if help is
needed. He would like Grapevine to start a pilot program which would get
Email from each organization involved in the program. The facts could be
gotten out through City Newsletters, Church Bulletins, Meals on Wheels,
etc. The 211 phone number is a possible avenue of getting help for specific
needs. Individual Email addresses would be another way of getting new
information out to seniors.
Mr. Cole has volunteered to serve on a committee to work on this project.
He said that committee members would not need to be seniors.
These isssues were tabled till the next meeting.
The next meeting will be held on March 7, 2003 at 2 P.M. at the Grapevine
Senior Activities Center.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:30 P.M.
