SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST
FOR QUOTE TO PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT PUMP
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for quote to
purchase a replacement pump for the Wastewater Treatment Plant from Pump
Solutions, Inc.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in account 200-43370-534-0 (W/W Treatment
Infrast. Maint.) for an amount not to exceed $16,555.00.
BACKGROUND:
The purchase of the Barnes pump from Pump Solutions, Inc. is needed for Minters
Chapel Lift Station. One of the two pumps currently in place failed electrically and is in
need of replacement due to the critical necessity of the station's proper function. The
desired pump meets the specifications required for proper draw down of incoming raw
water and will assist in the prevention of sanitary sewer overflows. There are two pump
quotes provided from Pump Solutions, Inc. for two different types of pumps; the Barnes
and KSB. The Barnes pump better meets the needs of the City due to fitting the desired
pump curve.
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Two vendors submitted
quotations. Pump Solutions, Inc. submitted the lowest responsive and responsible quote
meeting specifications.

Odessa Pumps $20,189.00
Staff recommends approval.
