SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST
FOR QUOTE TO PURCHASE SAFETY DIVER DRY SUITS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for quote to
purchase safety diver dry suits for the Fire Department from Grapevine Scuba.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in account 100-42281-210-3 (Apparatus and
Tools) for an amount not to exceed $15,015.00.
BACKGROUND:
This purchase is to ensure all firefighter divers are equipped with certified dry suits to
effectively complete dive operations in any body of water that they may be called to. It is
necessary to have different sizes of dry suits because of the different characteristics of
each diver and to make sure that they can effectively operate in that environment.
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Three vendors submitted
quotations. Grapevine Scuba submitted the lowest responsive and responsible quote
meeting specifications.
Grapevine Scuba $15,015.00
Lone Star Scuba $16,100.00
Diving Unlimited, Inc. $16,762.00
Staff recommends approval.
