SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO RENEW AN ANNUAL SOLE SOURCE
CONTRACT FOR DEFIBRILLATOR TECHNICAL SUPPORT
SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval to renew an annual sole source contract with Physio-
Control, Inc. for defibrillator technical support services.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 100-43465-210-1 (Apparatus
and Tools) for an annual estimated budgeted amount of$17,107.20.
BACKGROUND:
The maintenance agreement allows for on-site visual/physical technician inspection and
covers any needed repairs throughout the year. It will also cover batteries and discounts
on parts and accessories.
Physio-Control, Inc. is the documented sole source support services provider for the
LifePak Cardiac Monitor/Defibrillators, Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) devices
that are kept in City buildings.
This procurement will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local Government
Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022(A)(7)(A). The contract is for an initial
one-year period with two, one-year renewal options. If approved, this will be the final
renewal.
Staff recommends approval.
