SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO RENEW AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR POOL
MAINTENANCE SERVICES FOR THE CITY SWIMMING POOLS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the renewal of an annual contract with Aloha Pool
Service for pool maintenance services for the city swimming pools.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in account 100-44540-312-3 (General Fund/
Professional Services/Parks and Recreation Maintenance) and account 100-44540-
312-5 (General Fund/Professional Services/Parks and Recreation Aquatics) in the
amount of$16,000.
BACKGROUND:
This annual contract with Aloha Pool Service is for pool maintenance services and will
help assist the Parks and Recreation Department comply with all sanitization needs in
maintaining high public health standards. This contract will also provide all services to
accomplish scheduled cleaning of City public pools at Dove Park and Pleasant Glade
Pool including removing debris, scrubbing, brushing, vacuuming of pool walls and floors,
as well as complete any normal repair issues that might arise. The term is for one year
with four optional, one-year renewals. This would be the first renewal of the four
available.
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing policy. Quotes were requested
from three vendors with only one vendor, Aloha Pool Service, agreeing to the
specifications. Aloha Pools has provided this service with satisfactory results.
Staff recommends approval.
