HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 14 - Chevrolet Vehicles I L..L III :#....1 1 MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 19, 2013 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION TO REJECT BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF 29 CHEVROLET VEHICLES, RFB 397-2013 RECOMMENDATION. City Council to consider approval of a resolution to reject all bids for the purchase of 29 Chevrolet vehicles. BACKGROUND: The rejection of all bids for 29 Chevrolet vehicles, Request for Bid 397-2013 is allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 252.043 (f). Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid advertisement was posted in the Fort Worth Star Telegram on December 13 and 20, 2012. The bid was opened publicly on January 21, 2013. Through the City's eBid system, 56 vendors viewed the bid due to the electronic notifications, the bid advertisement or City's purchasing website bid notice. Three bids were submitted. Public Works Fleet Services recommends rejecting all bids taken on Request for Bid 397-2013 in order to consider the purchase of all 29 Chevrolet vehicles using cooperative contracts with the State of Texas and Tarrant County which will provide a lower overall cost to the City than the bids submitted. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS,AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR THE CITY MANAGER'S DESIGNEE TO REJECT BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF 29 CHEVROLET VEHICLES, RFB 397-2013 AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is a local government in the State of Texas and as such is empowered by the Texas Local Government Code, Section 252.043 (f) to reject any and all bids; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas solicited bids for 29 Chevrolet vehicles through a Request for Bid 397-2013 and upon bid pricing evaluation with cooperative contracts with the State of Texas and Tarrant County, the cooperative pricing was deemed to provide the lowest cost available for the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes rejection of all bids submitted per Request for Bid 397-2013. Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 19th day of February, 2013.
