SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF RFQ 400-2013 FOR THE
TURNKEY PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF TWO
ELECTRIC VALVE ACTUATORS AT THE HILTON LIFT
STATION
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of the award of RFQ 400-2013 for the turnkey
purchase and installation of two electric valve actuators at the Hilton Lift Station from
Controls International, Inc.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in account 200-43370-534-0 (Utility PCMF Fund) for an amount not
to exceed $17,066.
BACKGROUND:
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. One vendor submitted a
quotation.
A RFQ was issued through the City eBid system. There were 60 vendors who viewed
the bid. One vendor submitted a quote, Controls International, Inc. in the amount of
$17,066.
The turnkey project for the installation of two electric valve actuators on existing 24" gate
valves at the Hilton Lift Station for the Public Works Department. These valve actuators
will automate two critical 24" valves at the Hilton Lift Station. The actuators being
installed will allow us to isolate the inflow to this station for maintenance and operational
control in 24 minutes where it would normally take crews about half a day to manually
open and/or close these valves.
Staff recommends approval.
