SUBJECT: SH 121 SECTION 13 IMPROVEMENTS — PHASE II LOCAL
FUNDING AGREEMENT — TXDOT DALLAS DISTRICT
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council consider approving additional funding for participation with TxDOT in the
acquisition of right-of-way for the SH 121 Section 13 Improvements — Phase II Project in
the amount of $157,020.53, authorize staff to issue additional funds to TxDOT, and take
any necessary action.
FUNDING:
Funds for this additional funding participation are available in the Capital Project Street
Account 178-78118-010-000.
BACKGROUND:
The City Council approved a Local Funding Agreement with the TxDOT Dallas District for
the 10% Local Match for right-of-way acquisition for the SH 121 Section 13 Improvements
— Phase II Project on May 5, 2009. Grapevine's funding commitment for the 10% match
was estimated at $495,300.93. This $90 million project included critical access
improvements to the Grapevine Mills mall area. During the project and as the program
costs rose, Dallas County contributed $154,699.07 in support of the 10% local match.
The ROW acquisition effort has been completed and closed. The final cost of the program
is $9,775,681 which requires a local match of $977,568.13. Deducting the City of
Grapevine's initial commitment of$495,300.93, subsequent payments of$170,547.60 and
Dallas County's commitment of$154,699.07 leaves an outstanding balance due to TxDOT
of $157,020.53 to complete this project.
Staff recommends approval.
