SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST
FOR QUOTE TO PURCHASE TURBIDITY METERS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for quote to
purchase turbidity meters for the Public Works Department from the Hach Company.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in account 200-43360-534-000 (Water Supply
Infrastructure Maintenance) for an amount not to exceed $27,495.
BACKGROUND:
In the water treatment process, a key measure of successful treatment is the reduction of
turbidity (a measure of solids suspended in the water).
Staff is proposing the purchase of 12 Hach TU5300sc turbidimeters are to replace the
current Hach Turbidimeters due to the age of the meters and the production of the current
model discontinuing.
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Three vendors submitted
quotes. Hach Company submitted the lowest responsive and responsible quote meeting
specifications.
