SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE
OF BUS REPAIRS
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider a resolution authorizing a sole source purchase of
bus repairs from Southwest International Trucks, Inc.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this purchase are available in account 100-43430-108-001
(Motor Vehicle Maintenance) for an amount not to exceed $16,469.
BACKGROUND: This is for the out -source repair and parts on Unit 50103 CVB shuttle bus
by Southwest International Trucks Inc. for the complete replacement of LH
final drive, drivetrain, and suspension bushings.
The purchase of the bus repairs will be made as a sole source purchase
from Southwest International Trucks, Inc. in accordance with Local
Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, §252.022 General
Exemptions (a)(3).
Staff recommends approval.

RESOLUTION NO. 2018-050
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
OR THE CITY MANAGER’S DESIGNEE TO PURCHASE
BUS REPAIRS FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
FROM A SOLE SOURCE VENDOR AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is a local government in the State of
Texas and as such is empowered by Texas Local Government Code Chapter 252,
Subchapter B, § 252.022. General Exemptions (a) (3) to purchase bus repairs for the
Public Works department on a sole source basis; and
WHEREAS, The Public Works department has a need to repair a bus used by the
Convention and Visitors Bureau; and
WHEREAS, Southwest International Trucks, Inc. is the bus service shop for this
type of mechanical repair; and
WHEREAS, all constitutional and statutory prerequisites for the approval of this
resolution have been met, including but not limited to the Open Meetings Act; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems the adoption of this resolution to be in the best
interests of the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated hereinabove are found to be true and correct
and are incorporated herein by reference as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the
purchase of bus repairs from Southwest International Trucks, Inc. for an amount not to
exceed $16,469.
Section 3. That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase of said bus repairs.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
