SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR DEPENDENT
ELIGIBILITY VERIFICATION SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider award of a contract with HMS for health
insurance dependent audit services.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in account 100-44540-109-001 (Professional
Services) in the estimated amount of $16,000.
BACKGROUND: The health insurance dependent eligibilty verification audit is a best
practice audit of covered dependents on the medical, dental, and vision
insurance plans.
The dependent eligibility verification is designed to ensure compliance
with regulatory requirements and control the cost of health benefits for the
City. The City's consultants McGriff, Seibels, and Williams secured four
proposals. City staff reviewed the proposals and determined that HMS
would provide the best service and pricing for meeting the needs of the
City. This contract is for a one-time audit.
Staff recommends approval.
