Introduction of Clubhouse Architects (Thiel & Thiel) for update and Q&A (Russell Pulley) 4) Instructional Program update (Jr Academy, Jr League Golf, GGR) (Robert Singletary) 5) Golf Course maintenance report (Merlin Tielkemeier) CONSIDERATION OF THE MINUTES Consider approval of the minutes of the April 19, 2018 meeting and take any necessary action. Russell Pulley, Director of Golf Golf Boarcl /Z�,�- ��:�� Golf ;g STATE OF'I VxAS COUNTY OF fjARRANT CITY OF GRAPEVINE The Golf Course Advisory Board of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in regular session on this 19th day of July 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at the Grapevine Golf Course, 3800 Fairway Drive, with the following members present: Gary Davis Member Louis Capone Member Bryan Humphreys Member Tom Kormondy Member Robert Blalock Member Jonathan Wall Member Ronnie Hatley Member Tom Cherry Member Deborah Gore Member Constituting a quorum, with the following members of the City Staff: Russell Pulley Director of Golf Mike Lease City Council Member Robert Singletary Head Golf Professional Merlin Tielkemeier Superintendent CALL TO ORDER Gary Davis called the meeting to order at 5:04 p.m. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were no citizen comments. ITEM I - Introduction of new Golf Advisory Board Members Russell introduced Deborah Gore and Tom Cherry as new members to the GolfAdvisory Board ITEM 2 — Summary of Golf Operations 1st Ouarter Russell reported on the 3rd quarter of 2018 vs 2017. Russell reported that the third quarter to budget and previous year was up in all categories. All in all a very good quarter. Weather was of little significance in the quarter. Chad Kaiser was hired as a new Assistant Professional replacing Bob Buderus wholeft perusing other opportunities. Outings were steady and consistent reported by Robert Singletary. The heat was the challenge in July. There was negative feedback about the beverage cart inconsistency and condition and the poor quality of the beverage cart service. Tom Cherry commented that he liked the mission statement ofthe Golf Course. ITEM 3 — Clubhouse Project update Russell reported that the Architects to be selected was Thiel & Thiel out of Colleyville, Texas. They were invited to the meeting but were unable to attend due to conflicts. Russell reported that the discussion with T&T were in progress determining the site location and how to best design the space utilized by the project. These were still being determined. Tom Kormondy discussed the upgrade of the entrance signage to the Golf Course. ITEM 4 — Instructional urogram update (Jr Academy. GGR Jr League zoln Robert reported on the growth of the Grapevine Jr. Academy, the PGA Junior League involvement and the Get Golf Ready programs that the Golf Course is involved with. The Academy continues to grow but slowly as expected. Junior camps, PGA Junior League matches and Get Golf Ready classes are underway, with inquiries already beginning for next year. Eric Hunt continues his success with the Get Golf Ready programs, having to add more classes because of demand and also adding Level II classes. ITEM 5 — Golf Course Maintenance Report Merlin reported that the completion of new signage for the entire golf course as well as well as new directional signage and new trash receptacles on both the Mockingbird and Pecan Nines. The trash receptacles for the Bluebonnet nine will be added this fall. Merlin reported that despite the heat, everything pretty smooth. He also commented that hot spots were always a challenge. Lou Capone ask about the aerifying of Fairways and Merlin reported that that was a lack of the proper equipment for the process. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES Consideration to approve the minutes from the April 19th, 2018 meeting were approved with Tom Kormondy making the motion to approve the minutes and Ronnie Hatley with a second to the motion. All in Favor: all All opposed. none ADJOURNMENT Bob Blalock asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. A motion to approve was made by Ronnie Hatley and a second was made by Bryan Humphries.
