Adjournment The next meeting of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation will be the Annual Meeting which will be held at the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau, 2nd floor Boardroom at 636 South Main Street in Grapevine on Wednesday, on January 16, 2018, at 5:00 pm. If you plan to attend this public meeting and you have a disability requiring special arrangements, please contact the Office of Historic Preservation at 817-410-3185 at least 24 hours in advance. David Klempin Manager, Heritage Programs & Preservation 18 December 2018 STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF TARRANT CITY OF GRAPEVINE The Grapevine Heritage Foundation (GHF) Advisory Board met at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, 2nd Floor Boardroom, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051 for their regular scheduled monthly meeting. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Curtis Ratliff called the meeting to order at 4 p.m. and thanked all for attending. i II. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were no citizen comments. Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Historic Preservation Commission under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form. In accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Advisory Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments. 4 1 December 18,2018 18 December 2018 III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Balla Wright made the motion to accept the minutes as written from the November 8, 2018 Annual Meeting of Membership meeting. Melva Stanfield seconded the motion, which prevailed in the following vote: Ayes: All (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Perkins, Franks, Fray, Hummer and Jensen) Nays: None Absent: (Stinson) OLD BUSINESS Secretary Janet Perkins reported membership had been stable at 222 active members and the remaining 2019 GHF calendars, not distributed at the Annual Meeting of the Membership, had been mailed to arrive before the new year. Vice Chairman Melva Stanfield gave the Nash Farm report for November with a total of 1,890 visitors with 11 groups; 281 attended the First Friday event, they had hosted two Parlor Tours; a media breakfast for the Travel Writers group; and a senior bus tour in town to see the Chamber's Christmas Parade with an open fire cooked lunch for the 40 guests (at $25 each). Chairman Ratliff called for any comments, with none made, he called on Treasurer Balla Wright to give the Sponsorship report; Treasurer Wright said the mission for sponsorships would begin again in January 2019. NEW BUSINESS Farm Manager Cody Jolliff gave the update for the Winter Conference for Texas Living History Association (TLHA) and The Association for Living History, Farm and Agriculture Museums (ALHFAM). He said staff had worked hard to acquire the presenters and all Skills & Trades Exposition sessions would be period appropriate in No PowerPoint zones. Presenters will be coming from the Mountain Plains, New Jersey and Virginia to teach "experience based learning" as the officers watch this conference as a work study for next year's conference. The Founder's Building will serve as Registration Headquarters with some onsite spinning and knitting, skill and trade goods displayed and items for the Saturday night auction at the Calico Ball. Thursday sessions will include the Rail Crew Academy, Blacksmithing and a Wine and Viticulture class. Paula Newman added the Grapevine Heritage Foundation will sponsor the Palace Theatre showing the 1947 movie "The Egg and I"; all were encouraged to wear 1940's attire. Friday will have more sessions plus a Historic Main Street tour and an Architectural Main Street tour. Farm Manager Jolliff called on the board to sign up to greet, help with sessions, events and other opportunities. Balla Wright volunteered, and said Helen Jean Lucas Reed would also be available for the Friday evening events. I 2 December 18,2018 4 18 December 2018 Board member Courtney Fray asked about shirts for the board members saying she would like to take the lead on purchasing shirts; the board agreed and she was directed to contact Visitors Cultural Manager Lisa Dalton for approved vendors to quote. The Saturday night Calico Ball will be held in the 2nd Floor Grand Hall of the Convention & Visitors Bureau with silent auction items displayed in the rotunda. Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served and dance music provided by a brass band. Board member Frances Jensen announced a special recognition of the Palace's beloved Arthur Emerson would be celebrated at the Palace Arts Center on Friday, January 4, 2019.
