Russell Pulley, Director of Golf Golf Board ������� ���� Golf STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF TARRANT CITY OF GRAPEVINE The Golf Course Advisory Board of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in regular session on this 17th day of January 2019 at 5:00 p.m. at the Grapevine Golf Course, 3800 Fairway Drive, with the following members present: Guy Davis Member Louis Capone (absent) Member Bryan Humphreys Member Tom Kormondy Member Robert Blalock Member Jonathan Wall Member Ronnie Hatley Member Tom Cherry Member Deborah Gore Member Constituting a quorum, with the following members of the City Staff: Russell Pulley Director of Golf Mike Lease City Council Member Robert Singletary Head Golf Professional Merlin Tielkemeier Superintendent CALL TO ORDER Gary Davis called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were no citizen comments. ITEM 1 -Election of Advisory Board Chairman A vote was taken to elect a Chairman of the committee. Gary Davis was nominated by Tom Kormondy and all were in favor. A second was made by Byron Humphreys. ITEM 2 — Clubhouse Project uodate &Discussion !Russell Pulley) Russell Introduce the 4ie1 and Thiel team. Thiel and Thiel discussed the layout, location external material to possibly be used followed by a question and answer period An expected project start time and completion was also discussed Russell discussed that the CMAR (construction manager at risk) selected was Steele & Freeman. Russell also noted that they were independently selected for the Animal Shelter project. Having been the section for both projects was a cost savings to both projects Russell reported on the 1" quarter operations of 2019 vs. 2018. Russell reported that the 2019 I st quarter was down from 2018 approximately $116, 000. The main factor to this decrease was weather (rain programs continue to grow. The weather impacting weekends especially overall Golf instruction continues to grow promoting more golfactivity, range activity as well as increased merchandise sales. Challenges: Weather being the bigfactor. Very wet. ITEM 4- New Golf Carts and GPS (Russell Pulley) Russell informed that the new Golf carts purchased in December were Yamaha with the GPS company selected was the company IZONE. It was noted that there have been some issues with the new GPS system, but that they were working on resolving those issues. There were some questions and answers thatfollowed. ITEM 5 — Instructional Program update Or Academy Jr League Get Golf Ready) (Robert Smgletary I Robert reported on the growth of the Grapevine Golf Academy, The PGA Junior League involvement and the Get Golf Ready programs that the Golf Course is involved with. The Academy continues to grow, but slowly as expected. Get Golf Ready classes continue to be full with additional Get Golfready classes needing to be added Some ofthe New USGA Golfrules were discussed. ITEM 6 —Golf Course Maintenance Report (Merlin Tielkemeier) Merkin reported that the weather conditions continued to be very wet. Due to these continued wet conditions, many areas on the course have been roped off restricting cart traffic. Merlin reported that the upcoming winter season would involve much tree trimming and the normal maintenance on equipment. Merlin also reported on the Irrigation upgrade is beginning, putting new control boxes in place for better head control. Rockwork around the new tee signs has also begun and will continue until complete. The completing of the new trash receptacles will be completed with the completion of this project on the Bluebonnet nine. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES Consideration to approve the minutes from the October 18, 2018 meeting were approved with Tom Kormondy making the motion to approve the minutes and Robert Blalock with a second to the motion.
