SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF A TURBINE PUMP
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of a turbine pump from
FCX Performance for the Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this purchase are currently available in 200-43370-534-000
(W/W Treatment Infrastructure Maintenance) for an amount not to exceed
$22,100.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for a Peerless Vertical Turbine pump needed for the
Water Treatment Plant. The existing pump is at the end of itsuseful life
and must be replaced. This is one of the pumps uses to transfer water to
the clearwells where it is stored prior to entering the water distribution
system.
Informal quotes were taken in accordance with the City Purchasing Policy.
Formal bids and advertisements are not required for purchases under
$50,000. Three quotes were submitted as noted below. FCX Performance
submitted the lowest quote meeting specifications.
FCX $22,100.
Precision Pump Systems $23,772.
Pump Solutions No Bid
Staff recommends approval.
