SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF A HONDA PUMP
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of a Honda pump from
Precision Pump Systems for the Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this purchase are currently available in 200-43370-534-000
(W/W Treatment Infrastructure Maintenance) for an amount not to exceed
$25,910.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for a 70 HP Honda submersible pump that is needed for
Minters Chapel Lift Station. The existing pump has been damaged beyond
repair by large debris that entered the lift station wet well. The
replacement pump meets the specifications required for proper draw down
of incoming raw water and the desired pump curve for peak efficiency.
Informal quotes were taken in accordance with the City Purchasing Policy.
Formal bids and advertisements are not required for purchases under
$50,000. Three quotes were submitted as noted below. Precision Pump
Systems submitted the lowest quote meeting specifications.
Precision Pump Systems - $25,910.
FCX- $27,928.
Peterson Pump - $30,500.
Staff recommends approval.
