SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR INSURANCE
CONSULTANT SERVICES FOR GROUP HEALTH BENEFITS
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval of an annual contract for insurance
consultant services for group health benefits with McGriff, Seibels &
Williams Insurance Services for the Risk Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this purchase are available in account 100-44540-109-001
(Professional Services) for an amount not to exceed $50,000.
BACKGROUND: McGriff, Seibels & Williams is the City's group health consultant.They
assist with insurance placement for medical, dental, vision, life, disability
and stop -loss insurance coverages. They also ensure that benefit designs
are consistent with the strategic benchmarks, provide compliance tools
and legislative information and provide data analysis on plans and
performance.
The Risk Department has an established relationship with McGriff, Seibels
& Williams and determined that their expertise is necessary to guarantee
the best price, quality, and service for plan participants. This contract is
for an initial one-year period with one renewal option.
This procurement will be made in accordance with Local Government
Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, § 252.022. General Exemptions (a) (4),
professional services.
Staff recommends approval.
