HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 09 - Swimming Pool Sanitation Chemicals CC ITEM #9 MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER��' MEETING DATE: MARCH 19, 2013 SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO RENEW AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR SWIMMING POOL SANITATION CHEMICALS RECOMMENDATION: it Council to consider approval for the renewal of an annual contract for swimming pool sanitation chemicals from DCC, Inc. through an Interlocal Participation Agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard). FUNDING SOURCE: Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 100-42205-312-5 (General Fund/Grounds Maintenance/Parks and Recreation Aquatics) in the estimated amount of $18,000. BACKGROUND: This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing InterlOGal Participation Agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102, Cooperative Purchasing Program. A resolution considering the initial contract for pool sanitation chemicals was approved by Council on April 3, 2012. This approval request is for the final renewal under the Buyboard contract 367-10. The purpose o f t his contract is to purchase liquid chlorine and other chemicals used to sanitize and balance water chemistry required for the it of Grapevine Dove Pool & Pleasant Glade Pool facilities on an as-needed basis. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to DCC, Inc. under contract 367-10, Water/Wastewater Pumps and Motors. Parks and Recreation staff reviewed the contract for specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. The Cooperative Purchasing Agreement satisfies all bidding requirements under the Texas Local Government Code. DCC, Inc. has provided this service to the City in the past with satisfactory results and has agreed to renew the contract with no increase in pricing. 9:42:08 AM 3/13/2013 CC ITEM #9 Staff recommends approval.
