SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE EMERGENCY
REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT ON A RAW WATER PUMP
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council consider adopting a resolution authorizing the emergency purchase of
pump repair services that was made from Pierce Pump Company in an amount of
$24,057.18 forte repair and replacement of a raw water pump at the water treatment
plant.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding fortis purchase is currently available in account 200-43360-534-0 (Utility
Fund/PCMF) in the amount not to exceed $24,057,18.
BACKGROUND.
One of the four Water Treatment Plants Raw Water Pumps and motor (Pump #3), is
supplies raw water to the plant for potable water treatment, was pulled for routine
inspection and evaluation. Upon inspection and examination the motor checked out and
only required the normal preventative maintenance. The pump had an impeller that was
bent and could not be repaired. A replacement bowl assembly was required to bring the
pump back into specifications to provide the required flow tote water treatment plant.
Without this pump functioning at the water treatment plant, it limits the ability of the
water plant to be able to produce the maximum capacity of 8 million gallons per day.
Pierce Pump Company, an authorized repair center for PACO pumps, was contacted for
teardown and inspection of the pump and is the recommended repair facility.
An emergency purchase order had been issued to Pierce Pump Company for this
service repair and replacement for the raw water pump on February 20, 2013 at the
water treatment plant.

Section 1. That all matters stated in the e preamble are true correct and
are incorporated r i as if copied in their entirety.
Section That the City Council of the City of r vin e authorizes and ratifies
the emergency r it and replacement fro i rce Pump Company for a raw water pump
at e Water Treatment Plant on February 20, 2013 in the amount not to exceed
$24,057.18.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the er c repair that s made on said raw water pump.
Section 4. That this resolution sh II take effect from r the date of its
passage.
