SUBJECT: CANVASS GENERAL ELECTION
RECOMMENDATION:
Consider a resolution canvassing the May 4, 2019 City Election for City Council Place
3 and City Council Place 4; declaring the results; and take any necessary action.
BACKGROUND:
On May 4, a General Election was held to elect City Council Place 3 and City Council
Place 4.
As of April 4, the City of Grapevine had 31 ,612 registered voters. 3,290 ballots were cast
on for this election, which equated to 10.41% of the registered voters in the City.
The unofficial results are as follows:

By adoption of the proposed resolution, Leon Leal is declared duly elected to City Council,
Place 3 and Darlene Freed is declared duly elected to City Council, Place 4.

RESOLUTION NO. 2019-024
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE
MAY 4, 2019 GENERAL ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ELECTING COUNCIL MEMBERS TO CITY COUNCIL PLACE
3 AND CITY COUNCIL PLACE 4 AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, there came to be considered the returns of an election held on the 4th
day of May, 2019 for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named officials, as appearing
from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 3,290 valid
and legal votes; and
WHEREAS, each of the candidates in said election received the following votes:

WHEREAS, all legal prerequisites for the adoption of this resolution have been
met, including but not limited to the Local Government Code and the Open Meetings Act;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby declares that the approval of this resolution is
in the best interests of the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1 . That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct
and are incorporated herein by reference as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was
given in accordance with law; and that said election was held in accordance with law; and
that the following named persons were duly elected to the office indicated:
City Council Place 3 .................... ........................Leon Leal
City Council Place 4 ............. ........................Darlene Freed
Section 3. That the said above persons are hereby declared duly elected to said
respective office, subject to the taking of the oath and filing bond as provided by the laws
of this State and the ordinances of this City.
Section 4. That this resolution shall become effective from and after the date of
its passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 15th day of May, 2019.
