HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2010-070;2 010-10 TO: SITE PLAN REVIEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS FROM: RON STOMBAUGH, PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGER DATE: JANUARY 11, 2012 CONDITIONAL USE REQUEST. LOTBLOCK GRAPEVINE ADDITION Staff recommends the Site Plan Review Committee consider the proposed changes to Conditional Use Request CU10-25 (Ord. 2010-70) approved at the December 21, 2010 meeting for a planned commercial center in excess of 1,000,000 square feet of gross leasable space, specifically to modify the building elevation of the mall and allow for an outdoor amusement feature associated with Legoland Discovery Center, and take any other action necessary. At Council's December 21, 2010 and January 18, 2011 meetings, an amendment to the signage package for the Grapevine Mills Mall for the Legoland and Sea Life concepts was approved and both concepts are now in operation. With this request the applicant proposes an additional entertainment feature as part of the Legoland Discovery Center experience whereby children will drive a small battery powered vehicle though a dedicated course which weaves though a variety of features that are both interior and exterior to the mall. This new activity will require two controlled openings in the exterior wall of the mall to allow access to the outside portion of the course as well as a dedicated outdoor area associated with the driving experience. BACKGROUND INFORMATION At Council's December 21, 2010 and January 18, 2011 meetings, an amendment to the signage package for the Grapevine Mills Mall for the Legoland and Sea Life concepts was approved and both concepts are now in operation. With this request the applicant proposes an additional entertainment feature as part of the Legoland Discovery Center experience whereby children will drive a small battery powered vehicle though a dedicated course which weaves though a variety of features that are both interior and exterior to the mall.
