AIJ ao�� Trent Kel , Recreation Man"k GRAPEVINE SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD Minutes of Tuesday, June 4, 2019 Meeting The REC of Grapevine 1175 Municipal Way Grapevine, TX 76051 817.410.3465 Call to Order The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met at 3:32 pm on June 4, 2019 at The REC of Grapevine. The following were present: Dick Guckel, Chairperson Pam Price Roger Jones Kevin Mitchell, PARD Director Trent Kelley, Recreation Manager Patrece Coblentz, Active Adults Recreation Coordinator Duff O'Dell, City Council Liaison Teri Rhodes -Cantu, Housing Authority Liaison Christine Szymaszek, GRACE Liaison Isabelle Boyd, REC Liaison Those not present: Tena Burrell Barbara Johnson Carey Miller 2. Welcome Guests Leon Leal, newest member of Grapevine City Council 3. Consideration of Minutes for April 2, 2019 Meeting Approved 4. Citizen Requests None 5. Informational Items City Council Report — Duff O'Dell Tonight is the first Council meeting for Mr. Leal. Mayor Tate and family are on a cruise; Mayor Pro Tem will preside. There are several presentations coming soon. Consultants brought in to discuss the parking situations in Grapevine. P&Z will meet the third Tuesday. Janice Roberson was added to the Walk of Honor and is the first woman. Page 1 of 2 Housing Authority report — Teri Rhodes -/Cantu No significant new news. Next meeting is the fourth week in June. Current backlog for housing is between 100-120. GRACE report — Christine Szymaszek 117 clients in the Friends and Family Program (55 and over). 57 volunteers with a waitlist for others to onboard. Groceries were delivered to 78 households (85 individuals). Christine attended two workshops, one of which was Social Security/Medicare/Medicaid focused and very helpful. For clients, she focuses on two things: looking at budget and looking at insurance, making sure they get the best information and help. Needs met. Currently trying to help a 62 -year-old man diagnosed with Hepatitis C and liver cancer. The battle to get his meds is tough. Did anyone have any ideas? Duff mentioned GRACE helped with tax preparations and is about to kick off Feed Our Children for the summer. The REC report — Trent Kelley Summer has arrived; pools are open and REC camps are in full swing. June 8 at Oak Grove: Softball All Stars will be playing if anyone needs local entertainment. Kevin Mitchell added that lake parks are closed and fireworks are canceled indefinitely. Active Adults report — Patrece Coblentz Active Adults is adjusting to camp schedules making sure classes have a place to meet or a field trip to go on when camps need the classroom space. Active Adults will be looking for indoor trips now that the warmer weather has arrived. Field trip to the Nerf Battlefield in Denton this week. 6. This meeting adjourned at 4:14 pm.
