SUBJECT: CONSIDER APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF SECURITY
MONITORING EQUIPMENT AND SERVICES FOR THE
MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval to purchase Security Equipment and establish an
annual contract for Monitoring Security from Guardian Services in the total amount of
$19,852.54.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in account 100-45561-109-1 General Fundllnsurance/Administration
for purchase of the equipment and in account 210-44540-340-1 Lake Enterprise
Fund/Professional Service/Golf Course Administration for monthly monitoring fees.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Four vendors submitted
quotations. A copy of the bid tabulation listing all pricing received is attached for review.
This request is to purchase security monitoring equipment and establish an annual
contract for monitoring services for the Municipal Golf Course. The Golf Course was
notified by Information Technology that the copper phone line supporting the current
monitoring system was bad and that the present monitoring company is not FIGS
compatible. Information Technology recommend switching to a company that is FIOS
compatible.
Three quotations were solicited for the necessary video equipment for each building at
the Golf Course and for the annual monitoring cost. A copy of the bid tabulation is
attached for review. The overall quotation offered was from Guardian Security. This
company quoted $19,252.54 for the equipment and a $600.00 annual cost for
monitoring services. Staff requested, received and checked references for Guardian
Security and this: company received satisfactory references and met all other
requirements for the security system.
Staff recommends approval for the purchase of the security equipment and to establish
an annual contract with Guardian Security in the total amount of$19,852.54.
