SUBJECT: CONSIDER APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF A UV
SYSTEM AT DOVE POOL, PLEASANT GLADE LAP POOL AND
PLEASANT GLADE CHILDREN'S POOL
RECOMMENDATION-.
City Council to consider approval to purchase an Ultra-Violet System for three swimming
pools from Texas Aquatic Supply in the total amount of$65,500.00.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in account 325 48860 312 10 2010 Capital Equipment/Machinery
Purchase Fund/Machinery and Equipment/Parks.
BACKGROUND:
Request for Proposals were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter
252, Subchapter B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The RFP was
advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram on February 4, 2010 and February 11, 2010.
This request is to approve the purchase of an Ultra-Violet System for Dove Pool,
Pleasant Glade Lap Pool and Pleasant Glade Children's Pool. The Ultra-Violet System
acts as. a secondary sanitation system for the pool water. It is one of the few effective
ways to protect against cryptosporidium, which has become an increasing problem over
the past few, years. The funds were approved by Council for the system to be purchased
during;this fiscal year.
Proposals were issued to three vendors with three vendors responding. The lowest
priced' proposal received that met the established criteria for this system was from Texas
Aquatic Supply. This vendor met all of the specifications, requirements and criteria of the
proposal. A:copy of the bid tabulation is attached for review.
Staff recommends approval to purchase the Ultra-Violet System in the total amount of
$65,500.00.
