SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF THE PURCHASE OF FREESTANDING TABLES
FOR OAK GROVE BALLFIELD AND THE RESOLUTION THAT
RATIFIES THE PURCHASE
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider award of a purchase order to Victor Stanley, Inc. for the
purchase of 12 freestanding tables at the Oak Grove Baseball Complex, in the total
amount of$22,342, and approval of the resolution that ratifies the initial purchase.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available for the tables from a $50,000 donation from Baylor Medical Hospital
to the City of Grapevine for improvements at the Oak Grove Ballfield Complex.
BACKGROUND:
This request is for approval of a resolution to ratify staff's action to purchase 12 each
freestanding tables at the Oak Grove Baseball Complex in accordance with Local
Government Code Chapter 252, Section 252.022 (a) (7) (D). This code allows an
exemption to the competitive bidding procedure if the procurement is available from only
one source because of captive replacement parts or components for equipment.
These tables will replace some existing tables at the Oak Grove Ballfield Complex that
will be moved to the grove of oak trees to the north of the complex. Staff is creating ideal
picnic areas for citizens and for participants in league and tournament play at the
complex.
There are several large super series tournaments coming to the complex this summer
that will have a significant economic impact in Grapevine. In order to have more
picnic/rest areas for the teams participating in the tournaments and for citizens during
the holidays and general use, staff is placing the order for the tables now so that they
may be received in time for the tournaments.
Staff recommends approval of the resolution to ratify the purchase of 12 freestanding
tables at the Oak Grove Baseball Complex from Victor Stanley, Inc. as a sole source in
the total amount of $22,342, and approval of the resolution that ratifies the initial
purchase.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, TO RATIFY THE PURCHASE OF
STEELSITE TABLES FROM VICTOR STANLEY, INC. AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine has purchased tables described as:
Steelsite Series 36° Round Freestanding Tables; and
WHEREAS,the tables have been purchased from Victor Stanley, Inc. in accordance
with. Local Government Code Chapter 252, Section 252.022 (a) (7) (D). This code allows
an exemption to the competitive bidding procedure if the procurement is available from only
one source because of captive replacement parts or components for equipment; and
WHEREAS, there are several large super series tournaments coming to the Oak Grove
complex this summer having a beneficial economic impact on the City of Grapevine and, in
order to have additional tables available in time for the tournaments, Staff placed an order
with Victor Stanley, Inc. to accommodate the tournaments.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BYTHE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine ratifies the purchase of
the tables from Victor Stanley, Inc. for a total cost not to exceed $22,342.00.
Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 1st day of June, 2010.
