The total annual cost will be limited to the budgeted amount for this service. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in accounts: 200-42205-531-2 Utility Enterprise Fund/Grounds Maintenance/Water Treatment 200-42205-530-2 Utility Enterprise Fund/Grounds Mai ntenancelWastewater Treatment BACKGROUND: Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid advertisement posted in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on April 9, 2009 and April 16, 2009. Bids were issued to fifteen vendors, with nine vendors responding to the invitation. The invitation requested fixed annual pricing to provide various water and wastewater chemicals used in the daily operations of the water and wastewater treatment plants. With the exception of Simply Aquatics, all of the responding vendors met the requested qualifications and specifications of the bid. Simply Aquatics did not meet the vendor qualifications outlined in the bid, due to references obtained. Council approved awards to those vendors who were lowest on each item. Each of the current contract vendors were contacted by Staff to see if they would renew their contracts and if there would be any price increases. All vendors responded with acknowledgements to renew the contracts. Due to the volatile market, Council approved pricing adjustments at the end of each quarter of the contract. This allowed the City to monitor the fluctuating prices of the market resulting in a current reduction in the cost from last year by -3.0% to begin this renewal period. (See attached pricing) Staff recommends award of an annual contract to DPC Industries,.Altivia Corporation, . Univar, Harcross Chemicals and Fort Bend Services for Water and Wastewater Chemicals.
