SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT AWARD TO INSTALL A
GENERATOR AT THE PEACH TREE WATER TOWER
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider awarding a contract to Power Products, Inc. for the installation
of a generator and transfer switch at the Peach Tree Water Tower. The total of this.
contract will not exceed $29,150.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in account 325-48860-118-2010 (Capital Equipment 1 Machinery
PurchaseFund) in the amount of$29,150.
BACKGROUND:
Quotations were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Three vendors
submitted quotations. Power Products, Inc. was the lowest quote received that met
the required specifications. A copy of the bid tabulation listing all pricing received is
attached for review.
This generator project is for the purchase, site delivery, and complete installation of
a new 35kw Genset Diesel Generator and Transfer Switch for Peach Street water
tower. The work will include all necessary labor, material, services, start-up
assistance and training for a complete installation. This will provide back up power in
event of a power outage. This will ensure phones, computers will still operate for the
Service Center and Fire Station 1.
The budget estimate for the project was $50,000. The bid received was from Power
Products, Inc. for a total cost of $29,150. Power Products, Inc. has conducted
business with the City in the past and has performed satisfactory service.
Staff recommends this project be awarded to Power Products, Inc. in the total
amount of$29,150.
