HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 03 - Vineyards Campground ITEM # MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER /�- MEETING DATE: DECEMBER 7, 2010 SUBJECT: THE VINEYARDS CAMPGROUND IMPROVEMENTS — CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of Change Order No. 1 to The Vineyards Campground Improvements contract with Cooper General Contractors in the amount of$137,934. FUNDING SOURCE:. Funds for the additional costs are available from 2011 CO Bonds. BACKGROUND: At the April 20, 2010 City Council meeting, the Council approved a contract with Cooper General Contractors Inc. in the amount of $1,422,276.00. As the project progressed, staff identified several improvements that were not included in the original contract that were essential to completing the project successfully. Of significance were three RV sites not in the original scope of the contract that were removed and relocated to better serve the clientele of the campground, utility pipes, sod, and retaining wall quantities were underestimated. These changes amounted to 9.7% of the original contract amount or$137,934 and included: Piping --water and sewer $19,003 Retaining.walls $ 8,050 Limestone base $10,350 Concrete $48,771 Sod $ 6,208 Utility relocates $ 3,727 Two-phase electrical u rades 41 825 Total $137,934 Funds are available in 2011 CO Bonds due to the cost savings with the cabins, trees, and ancillary items in the project.
