SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST FOR
QUOTE FOR REPLACEMENT OF A RAPID MIXER AND TWO
FLOCCULATORS
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for
quote for a rapid mixer and two flocculator replacements from NOV
Process & Flow Technologies for the Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this purchase are currently available in 200-43360-534-000
(Water Supply Infrastructure) for an amount not to exceed $40,295.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for the replacement of a rapid mixer and two flocculators
for treatment train No. 1 at the water plant. The existing equipment is
beyond its useful life and must be replaced. The new equipment is more
efficient and will improve water production operations. This is the first step
in water production where chemicals are mixed with the incoming raw
water to enhance the removal of suspended solids in the clarifier basin.
Informal quotes were taken in accordance with the City Purchasing Policy.
Formal bids and advertisements are not required for purchases under
$50,000. Three quotes were submitted as noted below. NOV Process &
Flow Technologies submitted the lowest quote meeting specifications.
NOV Process & Flow Technologies $40,295.
MIA, Inc. $44,325.
Precision Pump $44,325.
Staff recommends approval.
