The City of Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met August 6, 2019 at 3:30 p.m.
in the Administration Conference Room at The REC of Grapevine, 1175 Municipal Way,
Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit:

Constituting a quorum with the following members of City staff:
Kevin Mitchell, PARD Director
Trent Kelley, Recreation Manager
Eileen Hinson, Active Adult Supervisor
With the following not present:
Christine Szymaszek, GRACE Liaison
The meeting was called to order at 3:30 p.m.
Approval of Minutes
The minutes for the June 4, 2019 were approved.

Informational Items
• City Council report — Duff O'Dell
Budget workshops are taking place this week.
The City is busy at work repairing many Grapevine streets.
The train now stops every 30 minutes in Grapevine and ridership is up.
There will soon be a TXRail presentation given.
GCISD is hosting a luncheon for the educators soon.
The Bessie Mitchell House update has been very well received.
• Housing Authority report— Bonnie McHugh

Notices were sent to those on the current wait list for update information.
Consequently, the waiting list for housing is open August 22-24. The REC
and the Grapevine Library will be available to anyone needing computer
access.
The capital replacement plan keeps the units in good shape. Currently some
roofs are being replaced.
• GRACE report —Christine Szymaszek
No report given.
• The REC report — Trent Kelley
Summer programming is wrapping up; The REC will be closed September 3-8
for annual cleaning and maintenance.
Through Goodwill and the Texas Workforce Commission, 3 students worked
in two 5 -week sessions at The REC. We have a good partnership with
GCISD.
Baseball and softball season is starting at Oak Grove.
Friday, August 9 is the Employee Health Fair at The REC.
This week is the introduction of Amilia, a new software program for
membership and class/activity registration.
• Suggestions to Revise the Board Format
Kevin Mitchell announced a change in communications. Board members will
now receive a weekly FYI. Nametags will be ordered.
A calendar of PARD events will be distributed at every GSCAB meeting.
Kevin Mitchell suggested quarterly meetings with a business section as is
currently done plus a presentation on timely subject matters.
Mr. Mitchell and Duff O'Dell will work on creating bylaws.
Group discussion followed. The October 1 meeting will take place at its
regular time. A 2020 schedule will be drafted and presented. Board
members are encouraged to send Eileen their day and time availability for
future quarterly meetings.
